Trail Ride Questions

For beginners and the kiddos we suggest either the Big Loop Ride (1hr) or the Gobblers Knob (1.5hr). The longer the ride the more opportunities to trot. There is no limitations on experience level and length of ride. All are welcome to any trail ride we offer.

Due to strict insurance regulations, we cannot offer cantering or galloping on our rides. However, we do offer trotting in all of our rides. The longer the ride, the more opportunity to trot!

All riders under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet. Riders over the age of 18 have the option to wear a helmet. All horseback riding helmets are provided by Black Butte Stables. We have many size options to assure all riders have properly fitting helmets. If you or your child would prefer to wear a bike helmet, that also works.

For questions regarding weight limit, please call the stables at 541-595-2061.

You do not have to be a guest at the ranch to go on a horseback ride. We welcome anyone from anywhere.

Unfortunately no, we are separate from the ranch and we have our own payment systems.

Please no treats for the horses, they have access to plenty of grass!

Please show up 15 minutes before your ride. This gives you enough time to fill out the necessary forms, pick out a helmet if you choose to wear one and get acquainted with your horse before the ride.

The horses live out in Big Meadow when they are not working or at the Stables. In the wintertime, you can see them as you drive out of Sisters towards Bend, enjoying their time off!

While we do not require tipping your guide, we recommend it! The easiest way to tip is with cash or Venmo.
